What are Cradle Roll classes?

Iconic display

Cradle Roll classes include babies and toddlers. Children are promoted to our preschool 2/3's class if they are two by the current school year.

During Cradle Roll, children sing songs and learn basic Bible stories. They are given various toys and props to help them connect words with objects. Cradle roll meets on Sunday morning and Wednesday night.

Children that regularly attend our classes usually know the words of many simple Bible class songs by the age of two, including Jesus Loves Me. They have also learned that their Bible class teachers love and care for them, that God made them, and that He made the world.

How are children grouped into classes?

Class attendance will help us determine if we will combine classes or offer multiple classes for a particular age group. Children are typically split up by developmental stage such as a Babies and Crawlers class and a Beginning Walker/Toddler class.

Children that turn 2 by September 1st of the current school year will be promoted to our Preschool 2's/3's class.

Do you provide childcare for children?

Iconic display

During worship service on Sunday mornings we provide an attended nursery. Children in the Babies, Crawlers, and Toddlers classes may remain in the same room for the entire Bible Class and Worship Service meeting time. The babies play, have snacks, and cuddle with our loving church members who volunteer to work in the nursery.

Children that have been promoted to our Preschool 2's/3's class may also take advantage of the nursery. If a child is not yet three, his parents will need to pick him up from Bible class and drop him off in the nursery. We encourage the parent to take their child to worship for at least the song service and begin training their child to participate in worship service. Once a child turns 3 years old, they may attend King's Court.

On Sunday nights, from 5:45-7:15, we provide nursery for children whose parents are serving in the other children's classes or are involved in life groups.

Nursery may be provided for other special events at Kingwood Church of Christ.

How are my children kept safe in the baby classes?

All of our volunteers have been through a training on our churches policy and procedure, a state approved training on preventing sexual abuse of children and a background check. When you arrive at the nursery, you will fill out a three-part sticker. One portion of the sticker will be placed on the child's back, one for the diaper bag, and a pick-up tag for the parent to present at pick-up. We will only allow adults, with the appropriate tag, to pick up children from class or nursery.

Do you provide a dedication service for babies?

Several times a year, we take time out in our worship assembly to bless the new babies. We believe that this is a special time of committment by the parents to God, their family and their church to raise their baby in a Christian home and to intentionally nurture their child's faith. We pray that we will have the opportunity to rejoice with the family again when that child has matured and developed their own faith in God and choose to make a lifelong commitment to Christ through confession, repentance and baptism.
